Carla Rose Fisher is a New York-based songwriter whose first cut on a major label will be released in early Q1 2012, when Canadian artist Amy Sky sings “Go On” on her Alive & Awake album. Another song Carla co-wrote will be part of the Broadway musical IT SHOULDA BEEN YOU in fall 2012.
After winning first prize in the ASCAP/Lilith Fair Songwriting Competition, Carla moved from Erie, Pa., to New York City, where she became a lyricist in the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop (Advanced). Her lyrics were selected for the York Theater’s NEO2 Concert Series, the 21st Annual NAMT Festival of New Musicals, the 17th Annual NAMT Songwriter’s Showcase, Monday Nights New Voices at the Duplex, Arts and Artists at the NYPL, Unsung at the Zipper Theatre and Musical Mondays for Musicals Tonight, and performed at the Pittsburgh CLO Cabaret; Baldwin-Wallace College; The Village Theatre; and George Street Playhouse.
Her song “Perfect,” written with composer Barbara Anselmi for IT SHOULDA BEEN YOU, was featured in the musical’s sold-out world premiere at the George Street Playhouse in New Brunswick, N.J., under the direction of David Hyde Pierce. The show will make its Broadway debut in the fall, after a production slated for March 2012 at the Village Theatre in Issaquah, Wash. Carla is a member of BMI and the Drama League.
