Artist Bio

John Schmitt was born and raised in Buffalo, NY, and his songs are a direct reflection of his
experiences growing up there. His simple, honest approach tells stories that hit at the heart of
American life.

In 2008, John was awarded Third Place in the NY Songwriters Circle 2008 Songwriting Contest
for his song “Ophelia.” In July 2009, he performed at Jones Beach Amphitheater in Long Island as
an opening performance for Dave Matthews Band.

John is a 2007 and 2008 ASCAP-PLUS award winner for new artists, and was nominated by
Artvoice Magazine in Buffalo, NY for Best Musician in 2006. In July 2009, he performed at the
Taste of Buffalo in Buffalo, NY.

John has been a recurring guest of the New York Songwriter's Circle, Rhode Island Songwriter's
Association, Rebel Spirit Music Showcase, Acoustic Long Island Podcast, and Music is Art Foundation.

His brand new CD is due for release next month.
